On May 9, 2025, St John Bosco Higher Secondary School organized a seminar on 21st Century Skills for its teachers in the school hall at 9:00 am. The resource person for the seminar was Smt. Koel Mukherjee professional trainer, who was ably supported by two esteemed guests, Shri Debashish Raha and Shri Bishal Singh.
The seminar began with a prayer led by Sr Marylang Suchiang, Headmistress of the school, followed by a warm welcome address by Fr Gilbert Gel Bhoi, Principal of the school. Sr Marylang Suchiang felicitated the resource person, Smt. Koel Mukherjee.
Smt. Koel Mukherjee delivered an insightful presentation on the 4Cs of 21st Century Skills - Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity. She also discussed the structural changes in the school education system, highlighting the key aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which includes four stages: Foundational, Preparatory, Middle, and Secondary.
The resource person elaborated on different learning styles and emphasized the need of the hour, which includes foundational literacies, competencies, and character qualities. She also discussed the areas of holistic development of a child and outlined the five steps of learning: Introduction, Conceptual Understanding, Practice, Application, and Expansion. To make the seminar engaging and impactful, teachers were divided into groups and participated in various activities designed by the resource person.
The seminar concluded with an interactive and enriching experience for all participants, providing valuable insights and takeaways for the teachers to enhance their teaching practices. The seminar was a resounding success, and the school appreciates Smt. Koel Mukherjee and the guests for their valuable contributions.
